Monumental Wood Sculpture

Sculptural works in dialogue with nature

Monumental wood sculpture represents a direct and respectful relationship with natural material. Working with large tree trunks—often reclaimed or naturally fallen wood—we transform what has reached the end of one life cycle into a new artistic presence.

The sculpting process is frequently carried out on site, allowing the work to emerge in harmony with the landscape. In some projects, the process itself becomes open and participatory, inviting the public to witness or take part in the transformation of raw material into sculpture.

Wood sculptures are suitable for:

  • parks and natural reserves

  • cultural and educational spaces

  • outdoor installations and artistic trails

Each work emphasizes the natural character of the wood—its texture, history, and organic form—while introducing a sculptural narrative rooted in respect for nature and continuity.

Art in Dialogue with Nature

During the creation of The Column of Nature, the sculpting process became an open and shared experience. Our workshop moved outdoors, into the heart of the forest, where children, young people, and adults were invited to discover wood, sculpture, and the life of trees directly at the source.

From small hands gently touching the bark to the courageous gestures of those holding a chisel for the first time, each participant left behind a trace of energy, curiosity, and respect for the material. The old oak wood thus became the witness of a collective experience of learning, play, and creation.

We believe that art is most alive when it is shared — when the process itself becomes as meaningful as the final work.

Art Reborn from Old Wood

In the heart of the Ceala Forest, a centuries-old oak, having reached the end of its natural cycle, was given a new form of existence. From its trunk emerged The Column of Nature, a monumental sculpture that speaks of continuity, memory, and the deep connection between people and nature.

The work was created by sculptor Lorin Blaj, together with the Semne în Timp team, as a gesture of respect for the environment and the natural heritage of the area. The forest creatures carved into the wood remind us that the beauty of nature deserves to be protected, cherished, and passed on.

The Column of Nature was donated to the Lunca Mureșului Natural Park as a gift to the Arad community and to future generations.

Art as a Bridge

For us, wood sculpture is not only an artistic practice, but a bridge between people and nature, between what has been and what can become. Each piece carries within it not only the material from which it is made, but also the story of the place, the community, and the time that has passed through it.
